Education Aid

Removing financial barriers to education through targeted scholarship programs that support students from early learning through post-graduation stability.

Our Mission

Education Aid is a nonprofit organization removing financial barriers to education through three targeted scholarship programs: Support a Student, Support a Special Student, and Support a Graduate. Together, these programs provide critical assistance for K–12 tuition, specialized education and therapy services, and post-graduation student loan support—helping students access opportunity, remain stable, and move forward at every stage of their educational journey.

Our Founder

Education Aid was founded by Karyn Balfour, inspired by her personal experience navigating educational and financial challenges as a parent of a child with special needs. That experience led to the relaunch of Education Aid with a clear mission: to remove financial barriers that prevent students from staying enrolled, stable, and moving forward.

Education Aid is guided by a commitment to responsible stewardship, transparency, and direct impact, working with donors and partners to ensure funds are used exactly as intended to support education and long-term opportunity.

Support a Student

Education Aid's Support a Student Program helps post-secondary students stay in school by covering essential living and education-related expenses not addressed by tuition or traditional financial aid. Payments are made directly to approved providers for costs such as housing, childcare, textbooks, and required educational materials, helping students remain enrolled and focused on completing their education.

Student Stories

“Words cannot express how thankful I am to Education Aid! This scholarship was crucial in ensuring my success during my final year of law school. I have always worked part-time jobs while going to school. During my second year of law school, the extent of my student loan debt became real, and I shifted my focus from academics to working as many hours as I could in order to take out less in student loans. Thankfully, this scholarship not only made it possible for me to take out less loans, but it also made it possible to work less so that I could focus on my grades and finish law school with strong academic credentials. I will forever be grateful to Education Aid for its generosity and for its contribution to my success.”

"I will be using my degree to provide advocacy services for senior citizens and disabled veterans.  I hope to deal specifically with medical insurance issues, and coverage of medical services within those populations.  While I am very blessed to have VA disability benefits and financial aid, it is just simply not enough to cover all of my expenses, such as rent, utilities, car/gas, books, and daycare.  Being selected for this scholarship program will enable me to focus on my school work, and relieve the pressure associated with having to work several jobs to cover my day-to-day living expenses.  I will be able to attend school full-time without having to worry about making ends meet with three young children."

 Julie Raysbrook

"I’ve thought about dropping out of school due to financial stress and not owning a computer,” said Nadeau. “Ten thousand dollars to me, means millions of dollars. I’ll be able to buy a computer instead of having to go to the library to complete assignments. I’ll have more time with my boys, and less time worrying about where the money will come from.” She added that after graduating from Remington, she’s considering obtaining her bachelor’s degree or starting her career in criminal justice."
